The Minimal Tee Color Guide

Nine colors sounds like a lot until you actually try to pick one. Most of them aren't trying to be different from each other — they're trying to be different from black and white, which is a much smaller job than it looks.

Start With the One You'll Wear Most

Arctic White and Jet Black aren't boring, they're load-bearing. Every other color in the range is designed to sit next to one of these two, not replace them. If you own nothing else, own one of these — Arctic White reads cleaner under a jacket, Jet Black hides the wear from six months of actual use.

The Warm Neutrals

Coffee Brown, Butter Yellow and Sunset Peach all lean warm, which matters more than it sounds like it should. They sit well against denim, tan, and olive — the same warm-toned pieces most people already own — and they photograph better in daylight than they do under store lighting, so don't judge them on a screen.

Coffee Brown is the one to buy first out of the three. It does almost everything black does, reads slightly less severe, and doesn't show dust the way true black cotton does after a few washes.

The Cool Neutrals

Navy Blue, Lagoon Blue, Coastal Blue and Pistachio Mist are the quieter half of the range. Navy is the most versatile of the four — it's close enough to black to layer the same way, but softer against skin tones that find true black a little flat. Lagoon and Coastal are close enough in tone that you genuinely don't need both.

What Not to Buy Two Of
