5 Ways to Style an Oversized Tee

An oversized tee only works if you build around it on purpose. Loose up top and loose everywhere else just reads baggy — the trick is contrast. Here's how we'd wear ours.

1. Anchor It With Something Fitted

The single biggest lever you have is what's below the waist. Pair an oversized tee with slim or straight-leg denim, not another loose piece — the contrast between volume up top and structure down below is what makes the fit read intentional instead of just big.

2. Half-Tuck, Don't Full-Tuck

A full tuck kills the drape an oversized tee is built for. Instead, tuck just the front — enough to show a hint of waist and break up the silhouette, while the back and sides still fall loose.

3. Layer Under an Open Shirt or Overshirt

Throw an unbuttoned overshirt or shacket on top, left open. It frames the graphic instead of hiding it, adds a second layer of texture, and gives you something to shed once the weather turns — practical, and it photographs better.

4. Let One Statement Piece Lead

If the tee has a bold graphic — Crimson Geisha, Mighty Dragon, anything with a loud print — keep everything else quiet. One statement piece per fit. Neutral bottoms, neutral shoes, minimal accessories. The tee is doing the talking.

5. Roll the Sleeves

A single cuff-roll on both sleeves — two or three turns, nothing fussy — tightens up the shoulder line without touching the rest of the drape. It's the fastest way to make an oversized fit look deliberate instead of accidental.

None of this is a rulebook. Oversized fits are forgiving by design — the point is contrast, not precision. Start with one of these and build from there.
